"Bomb Incident in Cagayan De Oro- ???"

NOTE: THIS IS AN UNCONFIRMED REPORT...
The situation is still evolving and details will eventually come to light...

Tonight I was out enjoying the late night ambiance of `Night Cafe' when there was a loud blast from a few blocks away. The people near, and with, me did not react at all other than comment on what that might have been. This is not surprising since Cagayan De Oro is statistically the safest of the larger cities in the Philippines. There have been no bomb incidents that I know of in the past.

A short while later I encountered a friend who informed me that a `bomb' had been detonated in the Lounge at The Dynasty Court Hotel. I was told that four people had been killed. No further information was known at the time. From my location the blast sounded like a grenade. I did not go to the scene. I felt that it was not the time to bother the authorities. I will find out more later.

It was interesting that most of the people on the street had no idea what had happened just a few blocks away, and did not seem to care. When asked if they heard the blast they mostly said "yeah, I heard something," and showed no real interest in what it might have been.

I went to The Park Cafe and had a coffee before heading home...

Re: NEWS FLASH! (From another local resident)

According to local radio there was a fight in the Disco involving former Mayor Emano's son. He was heard by many making threats telling them to watch out when they went outside.

A large crowd gathered outside and a few minutes later a fragment grenade was tossed into the crowd. The explosion was outside The hotel. Emano['s son] is considered the number one suspect.

They are saying many people were injured, but are not reporting any deaths at this time.
